OK, this seems like a real stretch.
Or perhaps, the causal relationship is backwards. My own ear and sinus problems are usually yeast-related, so when I finally quit taking antibiotics and started cutting out sugar and using a neti pot, I stopped having problems. Yea, me. And, even though my kids don’t eat a bunch of sugar, the same thing works for their ear problems, though luckily they don’t have too many.
Perhaps ear infections are symptoms of poor diet, not the cause of later weight gain.
Of course, that’s pure conjecture. No science (that I know of) to back it up. (If you know of some, send it to me.) Perhaps someone should test the theory.

Oh, and if you don’t use a neti pot, I highly recommend it
