Action plan: focus on triathlon, not weight

OK, I’m much more relaxed since refocusing on a goal other than weight loss. Remind of this. Often. I get REALLY freaked out about the number on the scale, but I’m great with non-scale victories when weight loss just happens as a side effect.

My action plan for today was to post my goals here, take my bike in to the shop to see if it can be rescued or I need to buy a new one, and to start the Couch to 5k running training plan.

Well, I was so jazzed, I took the bike in yesterday at lunch. Due back Wednesday. For about $100, I’ll have new tires and dérailleurs and other bike stuff and LOTS of lube. It was a $400 Trek bike that I have badly neglected, so not a bad deal. I now need to clean up my panniers and find my bike lock key (stuff that won’t prevent me from riding if it doesn’t get done, so nice-to-haves on my list).

Hmm. I almost sound like I know what I’m talking about. Just don’t ask me what a dérailleur is.

So goals next, starting with volunteering for a local triathlon and doing a walking 5k, I think. Look for those later today. And some walking/running time. Realistically, I have to get that in before noon, or it ain’t happening.

I know I’ll be taking the girls to the pool sometime this weekend (if the remnants of Hurricane Fay ever leave us). I will try to get my husband to go too so he can watch them and I can actually do some laps. The swimming one will be tricky schedule-wise, so I’ll consider it a bonus if I get it done this weekend. I’ll work that in later. Swimming is my strongest area.

I did find some plus-sized triathlon gear at Junonia. Not buying it yet, but visualizing! Know of any other sites that have plus-sized triathlon gear? Larger than XL, that is. Let me know!

    glad you are learning to relax and not focus on the number so much. I am working on that too. It is a struggle though ;)
