What’s your biggest remaining challenge?

Gimme a can of that Rationalization-Be-Gone!

There I was, face-first into a batch of blueberry blintzes this morning, rationalizing that I was really making them for my dear husband (being the kind caring selfless wife that I am, you know) and well, they were fairly low cal (90) and low fat (11%) and, of course, I deserved them having had a rough few days and…

Oh, I’m so good at rationalizing.

So, enough of that! I am getting up and taking action. Focused action every day to my goals. It would be so easy to let inertia set in. So, it’s either motivation kicking in or the Theraflu Daytime. Either way, I’ll let it work for me.

Today, the kids and I are home sick, so while they are incapacitated on the couch, watching old Disney shorts and drinking my husband’s special tea*, I am going to organize my overflowing library. It’s one of those looming projects I’ve written about. Here, let me show you:

Too many books (is there such a thing?)

Disclaimer: My whole house does NOT look like that — I’ve just taken all the books from around the house and consolidated them to deal with them. And yes, I’ve read (and agreed with much of) Does This Clutter Make My Butt Look Fat.

I’ve broken it down into (a) sort out books for the library and (b) shelf overflow books in newly found space. I am not going to worry about it being perfectly arranged by author and book height and subject — rough groups of like subjects will be good enough and get the job done.

That will also allow me to get started on a few other projects that require easy access to some of my reference books.

Off to work!

*Guy’s special tea: Raspberry tea with brown sugar and lime juice. Yum! The kids go nuts for it when they are sick.

    That tea sounds too good!!

I feel your pain with the library madness. I’m a huge reader, and it makes me crazy to have my bookshelves out of order. We all have something, though, right? If you were to peek inside my closet and saw the shoes scattered willy nilly on the floor, you’d know that I “get” the sort of project your undertaking with those books.

BTW, thanks for your comments on my blog - you really made my day.

Bella, I have to confess, I have a shoe issue, too. My husband who, in addition to painting my nails, mops the floor, throws all shoes into the hall closet willy nilly when he’s on a mopping bender. So, then, I have a 6-person worth pile of shoes that resembles my book pile. Then, we all end up wearing the same pair. Or going barefoot. I think I’m just going to limit everyone to 3 pairs — which is still 18 pairs of shoes — and they have to put them away when done or lose them!

LOL MizFit, you are too funny. I even suggested to him to pick a neutral practical color and he just rolled his eyes and painted them fire engine red. Toenails, too! That kinda put the kabosh (sp?) on my book project last night, but I made good progress.

ahhh…hubby painted your nails….too sweet. You are an awesome sick person…actually getting something done while sick! That’s commendable :) Hope you all feel better soon and get some rest mid-book ;)
