Sick and whiny, but sorted out diet books
Kids back in school one week, and I’m sick already. All my mom friends say this only takes about 3 or 4 years of getting sick until I am immune to all the bugs the kids like to share. Ugh! I’m normally a healthy person and I hate getting sick.
I dug into my reorganize-the-library project last night and started with the wrong approach. My first step was good: sort out books to donate to library. However, I started with interesting subjects and quickly got into trouble — I started a ooh-must-read-this-again pile. Danger, danger!
I quickly caught myself, though. Then, I had a flash of insight. Start with the diet books! I filled a laundry basket with books in about 5 minutes. See?
I sorted out:
- Dr. Phil, because he annoys me.
- Various weight loss surgery books because I really don’t want to go that route.
- Any book with the word “Miracle” in the title. (Hint: there isn’t one.) That was half of the books right there!
- A copy of Heal Your Heart only because I had two. (My Rice Diet cookbooks are among my favorites, even though I don’t consider myself a full-fledged ricer. That’s another whole post for another time. Today’s Rice Diet is not your mother’s Rice Diet of boiled white rice and apples.)
I did keep a few, notably Outwit Your Weight and a few others.
So now I have room for the books I had sitting on the floor as well as… Half-Assed (by PastaQueen), which I just ordered from Amazon!
Ahhhhh, mission accomplished. Now, if I can just get these kids to bed so I can sleep….

ha ha
Dr. Phil annoys hubby too. Sometimes I really like him but lately his shows aren’t the same…..sometimes it’s getting a bit Jerry Springer! Hope you get to feeling better. My preschooler has already brought home a virus too.
Too funny, tossing out all the “miracle” diet books!
I used to have a huge problem getting rid of old books, but then I got better about requesting stuff from the library… saves me some $$ and shelf space!
Thanks, Annette! My poor husband is catching it now. Phew!
Crabby, indeed — miracles, no more! Just posted about another blog post that talked about commitment, not miracles. I have built in bookshelves and that’s my book limit — they hold thousands, but I end up having to sort out some every year. We use the library frequently, too, how scary is that!
