What’s your biggest remaining challenge?

Dealing with stress constructively

I had a moment of clarity last year in which I realized that, until I learned to deal with stress better, I would never stop overeating to deal with stress.

Sounds obvious, right?

So I have experimented and found several things that work for me, not necessarily in this order or in every circumstance:

  • Support from people (such as my wonderful tea-brewing husband)
  • Exercise (usually something fairly intense)
  • Holosync (“automatic” meditation)
  • Spiritual practices (my childhood religion, in my case)

And, puppy cams.

I reguarly cruise YouTube for funny videos. I grab the funniest ones each week and put them on my blog. Regular laughter and humor can modulate your immune system, helping with a healthy immune response.

Good one, Craig — I was stressed at work and one of my coworkers sent several SNL videos including the Fix-It guy on the economy. Definitely laughed!
