What’s your biggest remaining challenge?

Into the 200s now — isn’t it funny what significance we assign to numbers on the scale?

Lost a couple more pounds — Down 26.5# from my highest weight, down about 10# from starting this blog. I was relieved to get past 300. It’s funny how we attribute such meaning to certain numbers. The “round” numbers (no pun intended) are obvious candidates, but here’s my list of meaningful numbers:

325 — highest recorded [...]

My reactions to PastaQueen’s book Half-Assed: A Weight-Loss Memoir

As I mentioned the other day, I was up all night reading PastaQueen’s book Half-Assed: A Weight-Loss Memoir. Thanks, PQ. (I almost blogged right then, but my husband opened one eye, saw that it was 4 or 5am, raised one eyebrow to say “are you kidding me!?” I avoided marital conflict and went [...]

A fat girl and her bike, together again

Well, I’m ready. Got my bike back from the bike shop. Got my bike accessories cleaned up. Washed my bike clothes. Didn’t really have to buy anything. Oh, except I did splurge on a speedometer/odometer so I can track my distance (gotta complete 112 miles by Oct 3!)

I have to say, my two bike shop [...]

Great dreams last night

First, I had a dream that, in 12 years or so, my middle child (now 4) and I ran a triathlon together and it was a great experience for us both. (I was just talking to my husband about how she needs some one on one time with us both because the other two are [...]

Forget BMI. What’s your PBII (Personal Body Image Index)?
Women’s funny weight loss math – CNN.com
Funny article. I broke even. I guess that’s good. Or maybe, according to the article, I’m just getting older. Hmm.
Even so, I won’t be in a bikini anytime soon, fear not!

Society is so conflicted! 12,000 calories OR size 0.

Two of the top news stories today:
“After [Phelps'] latest victory, he revealed the secret behind his six-days-a-week, five-hours-a-day training regime: an extraordinary 12,000-calorie daily diet, six times the intake of a normal adult male.”

and
“Tatiana Stewart’s willowy physique — she is 6′2″ and wears a size 4 — attracts fashion-modeling scouts on the street. But once [...]

Mommy, you need to be who you are!

Pretty profound statement for a four-year old, eh?
I don’t generally complain about my looks — I’m pretty comfortable in my own skin. However, she caught me grumbling about my straight (read: flat that day) hair. She came right over and said, “Mommy, you need to be who you are!”
Wise words.
