Looking back, I certainly learned a bunch about what works and what doesn’t with regard to my getting fit.
In no particular order…
Works: Outrageous distance-based goal with deadline (Lazy Man’s Triathlon, first 5K race, first 5K continuous run, marathon, open water swim, triathlon… what else to come?)
Doesn’t work: Exercising for X minutes Y days a week. [...]

I’m not going to talk about Oprah.
But I do want to talk about this statement in a blog about Oprah:
“For people with disordered eating or an eating disorder, weight is but a symptom of a larger, often emotional problem.”
(Disclaimer: I’m not suggesting Oprah or fat people have emotional problems.)
The realization that I needed to focus [...]

OK, this is getting ridiculous. I could blame TOM or my mother (visiting), but reality is I exercised too little and I ate too much (and not of the right stuff). Interestingly, I’ve also been getting stressed/weirded out by being in the top three of the BLBE and I suspect I’m sabotaging myself somehow around [...]

Yesterday morning I was feeling low. I indulged in that for a while and then had enough. Enough, I tell ya!
So, I…
Cracked down and got some tricky work out of the way
Dealt with an unpleasant personal issue
Stopped taking breaks to go stare in the kitchen cabinets (chocolate fairies never did show up)
Decided to let go [...]

I live with one person who bakes when she’s stressed.
I live with another person (dear husband) who exercises when he’s stressed.
Here’s how I feel today, under stress myself.
However, the final decision is mine.

Hmm. OK. I think I’m a freak. (Hey, I hear you asking yourselves, “well, when did she finally figure that out?!”)
I’m relieved because it’s nearly the holidays. I don’t find the holidays stressful, food-wise. I have the same freaky family issues that everyone else seems to have, but holidays aren’t when I do my eating. [...]

I had a moment of clarity last year in which I realized that, until I learned to deal with stress better, I would never stop overeating to deal with stress.
Sounds obvious, right?
So I have experimented and found several things that work for me, not necessarily in this order or in every circumstance:
Support from people (such [...]

Well, I was ready to write yesterday off, but I pulled it together and turned it around. Learned a few things about myself. Still puzzled by a pattern of mine.
Feel free to pitch in with suggestions
The past week or week and a half have been truly stressful on many many levels. I turned [...]

Well, down 3.3 more pounds for a total of 12.7 in three weeks!
-12.7 since starting Biggest Loser Blog Edition
-19.5 since starting blog
-36.5 from highest weight
I don’t feel deprived, I am enjoying (l.o.v.i.n.g.) the exercise I’m doing, and am so motivated.
This week was an extremely difficult week for a number of reasons. I’m glad I didn’t [...]

First of all, let me laugh at the blog name Foodio54. Clever. I have some really great old music running through my head now. Perhaps I date myself. (OK, in the 70s I was like, ten, but still!)
Now, down to business. Mark Salinas stumbled my second Influencer post (thanks, Mark!). When I checked out his [...]
