Looking back, I certainly learned a bunch about what works and what doesn’t with regard to my getting fit.
In no particular order…
Works: Outrageous distance-based goal with deadline (Lazy Man’s Triathlon, first 5K race, first 5K continuous run, marathon, open water swim, triathlon… what else to come?)
Doesn’t work: Exercising for X minutes Y days a week. [...]

Got on the scale this morning and realized:
Last week’s gain (plus a bit) is gone, which is good, so on track for the week.
The scale doesn’t have the power over me it once did — at this point, I get on about every other day to get some data to see how things are going. [...]

Lost a couple more pounds — Down 26.5# from my highest weight, down about 10# from starting this blog. I was relieved to get past 300. It’s funny how we attribute such meaning to certain numbers. The “round” numbers (no pun intended) are obvious candidates, but here’s my list of meaningful numbers:
